Some of the images here are from live projects - such as the images of dancers performing in abstract environments - some are geared towards developing specific techniques. The apples make use of sub-surface-scattering shaders to provide their texture - the same requirement as for realistic human skin. The grass in the desert uses HDRI (high dynamic range imaging) as a means of illuminating the scene - real world lighting information in virtual imagery.
